Weather Alert: Heavy To Very Heavy Rainfall Predicted in North East And Parts Of India

The IMD projected very heavy rain in isolated areas of Assam and Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim on June 3rd.

In Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Kerala, and Mahe, heavy rains are also expected.

Over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Kerala, Mahe, and Lakshadweep, widespread showers and thunderstorms are predicted.

During this time, extensive rainfall and thunderstorms are likely to continue over North-Eastern India due to the influence of a trough and southwesterly moisture-laden winds. Over the next five days, rainfall quantities will average 20-40mm/day in those places, with localized heavy or very heavy rainfall of 60-80mm/day possible in Assam, Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Mizoram, and Tripura.

Over Coastal and South Interior Karnataka, heavy rains and thunderstorms are expected.

Over Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, and North Interior Karnataka, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected.

Isolated rains mixed with snow with a possibility of lightning are expected over Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
