Woman killed by in-laws for dowry; reports
An official in Bihar's Sitamarhi district stated on Monday that a woman was killed by her in-laws for dowry. The accused attempted to cremate the body after the crime, but failed when the victim's relatives arrived at the cremation place and retrieved it off the flames. A post-mortem examination has been ordered for the body.
Her husband, Pappu Shah, and his parents, according to victim Reena Devi's brother Ajay Shah, used to harass her for dowry. They were pleading for a motorcycle.
"We had pledged to meet their needs once we had secured funding. They made the same demand again on Sunday, and she was beaten with iron rods. Over the phone, my sister expressed her displeasure with the assault. "They strangled her after that," he added.
"We hurried to the Parsauni police station and filed a report right away, but the cops refused to do anything." Then we raced to the Parsauni Mailwar hamlet, where the accused were cremating the body. "We carried the partially burned body off the pyre and drove it to Parsauni Sheohar NH 104, blocking the road for over two hours," he claimed.
"We have filed a FIR under relevant IPC sections of murder and criminal conspiracy against primary accused Pappu Shah and his parents." "They'll be nabbed shortly," said ASI Jamshed Alam of the Parsaini police station. (IANS)
