On World Teachers' Day, an Indian-origin teacher was honoured in Abu Dhabi for her passion and service to education. Greeshma Rajesh Anil Kumar, a computer science teacher at Mayoor Private School, was one of three instructors awarded by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK). "This acknowledgment entails more accountability. Now I must sustain my commitment to the students and society on a constant basis, if not go one step farther "Kumar explained to The Khaleej Times.

The teachers were evaluated based on the major differences they made in their classrooms and with their students, as well as how they distinguished from their classmates. The winning teachers were honoured during a surprise visit to their schools by ADEK representatives, who were joined by school administrators and colleagues, as well as students, to celebrate the winning teachers' outstanding work over the last year.

This year, ADEK got over 190 submissions from private and Charter Schools, underscoring the award's increasing year-on-year involvement, which has received about 700 nominations since its introduction on World Teachers' Day in 2019, according to The Khaleej Times. On October 5, World Teachers' Day was observed with the goal of appreciating, assessing, and improving teachers, as well as providing chances to discuss educational challenges. This year's Teachers Day theme was "the transformation of education begins with teachers."
