Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan and Aamir’s Laal Singh Chaddha faced worse boxoffice opening
Raksha Bandhan had a weak theatrical debut despite being released on the festival of Raksha Bandhan. On Thursday, the film with Akshay Kumar as the lead brought in almost 8 crore rupees.
According to a report on Boxofficeindia.com, the movie’s early projections point to day one earnings of between 7.5 to 8 crore. The movie did better than Laal Singh Chaddha as the day went on, according to the portal, although this was mainly due to the fact that it was performing better in the regions where Raksha Bandhan was a holiday.
On Thursday, Raksha Bandhan and Laal Singh Chaddha clashed in theatres. On day one, the Aamir Khan movie brought in between 10 and 11 crore. The third film Akshay has released this year is Raksha Bandhan. Samrat Prithviraj and Bachchhan Paandey, two of his earlier films, debuted at 13.25 and 10.7 crore, respectively.
Laal Singh Chaddha’s debut has shocked the Hindi film industry, and everyone is now evaluating and reorganising their strategies. Even in the worst-case scenario, an Aamir Khan movie should have made Rs. 15 crore at the box office. Make good large screen-worthy movies, is the audience’s loud and clear message after such a start.
