As heavy rain approaches, “Orange Alert” issued in Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal

While Sikkim faced landslides and road closures, the regional weather forecasting centre in Guwahati issued “orange alerts” for September 2 and 3 in Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh, indicating a recurrence of rainfall.
At mean sea level, the monsoon trough flows through Amritsar, Rohtak, Bareilly, Varanasi, Patna, and Balurghat before continuing eastward through north Bangladesh and Assam to Nagaland.

An official statement stated that the northeastern states could experience “pretty widespread/widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorm/lightning and heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated spots.”
Light to moderate rainfall is predicted for the majority of locations from September 1–5, with sporadic heavy showers.
