As the state of Odisha suffers from a severe heat wave, the authorities declared on Saturday that all schools will reschedule their teaching hours. The new teaching hours will be from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., and they will begin on Monday. The timings for the tests that have already been scheduled will not alter, according to the announcement, which was published on Twitter by news agency ANI.
“Following careful deliberation, the Government is pleased to reschedule the timing of teaching hours in all schools from 6 a.m. to 9.00 a.m., effective May 2, 2022.” The government announcement stated, “However, the examinations already planned by various Boards / Councils will continue as usual.”
The temperature in the state reached a new high on Saturday, reaching 45 degrees Celsius in three towns amid a scorching heatwave and oppressive humidity that swept the state, according to the Met Office.
According to the news agency PTI, nine weather stations recorded temperatures of 44 degrees Celsius or higher, with Boudh town recording a temperature of 45 degrees Celsius. According to the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre, the heatwave burned Subarnapur, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Boudh, Bolangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Deogarh, and Angul districts.
Meanwhile, the IMD has issued some welcome news, stating that thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface winds of 40-50 kmph are forecast in numerous districts during the next four days, according to the weather bureau.
