Assam CM urges Aamir Khan to postpone his visit to the state

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has requested Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, who has indicated interest in visiting the state on the eve of Independence Day, to schedule his visit after the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ celebrations have concluded.

“I spoke with Aamir Khan, and he said he planned to visit Assam during the Independence Day celebrations.” However, it may divert attention away from Azadi Ka Amrit Mohatsav… thus I requested him to set a day after August 15,” Sarma told the reporters here on Friday.

Khan, called “Bollywood’s Mr Perfectionist,” last visited the state over ten years ago, staying in Tezpur in the state’s north. The Chief Minister, on the other hand, stated that he is on good terms with Khan and that they frequently talk on the phone. Though the reason for Khan’s journey to Assam is unknown, sources say he wanted to promote his current film, ‘Laal Singh Chaddha,’ a remake of the renowned film ‘Forrest Gump.’

It is unknown whether the actor has committed to visit Assam after Independence Day. For the past several days, Khan’s latest film has been mired in controversy. Some people were advocating for a boycott of the film, arguing that it was disrespectful to the Indian Army.
