The Assam government has declared a public holiday on June 8 in the Karbi Anglong and Koklabari regions of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) in anticipation of the approaching Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) elections.
In this regard, the state government issued a notification on Tuesday, which read, ”The Governor of Assam is pleased to declare 8* June 2022 (day of Foil) as Public Holiday under Section 25 of N.1. Act. 1001 (XXTV of 1601) read with the Government of India, Ministry of Pome Affairs Notification No.20/25/Pub-I dated @” June 1057 within the jurisdiction of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and areas Calling under No.22 Koklabari BTC Constituency under Bodoland Territorial Council (OTC) on account of Karbi Angleng Autonomous Council Election, 2022 and Bye Election of No.22 Kaklabari (ST) BTC Constituency under BTC notified by Assam State Election Commission vide No.SEC.42/20223 and No. SEC.12/2021/77 dated 12/052022.”
“On that day, all she Government/Non-Government Offices, Educational Institutions, and Business Establishments including Banks, Tea Gardens, and Industries, etc. falling within the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and No.22 Koklabari (ST) TC Constructency under the Bodoland Territorial Council will remain close,” it added.
