A shipment of 1.5 tonnes of tender jackfruit from Dhubri district was transported to Dubai for the first time on Friday, marking a significant milestone for Assam.
On Friday evening, Dhubri deputy commissioner Anbamuthan MP flagged off a consignment of jackfruit from Bilasipara town, accompanied with 0.5 tonnes of green chillies.
LuLu Group International, a UAE-based Indian multinational conglomerate, will distribute these two commodities through its chain of more than 200 supermarkets and hypermarkets across the Gulf.
The technical components of the consignment’s packaging were handled by Lulu Group International and the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA).
“It is a special day for the agro-economics sector of Dhubri district as well as for the entire Assam,” Anbamuthan MP stated. We were able to ship jackfruit and green chilli from Dhubri to Dubai thanks to the district administration’s and farmers’ tireless efforts.”
