Babul Supriyo wishes to see the faces of those jealous BJP “Netas” after his victory

Babul Supriyo from All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) after his victory in the by-election in West Bengal tweeted “Wish to see the faces of those envious BJP ‘Netas’ who never recognized my hard work for a place I love-Asansol”, says the actor turned politician.

Shatrughan Sinha of the Trinamool Congress and Babul Supriyo of the same won massive and spectacular victories in the Asansol Lok Sabha and Ballygunge assembly seats, respectively, in the five by-polls that were counted today. Shatrughan Sinha won the Asansol seat by more than 3 lakh votes, giving his party its first electoral victory in the district. Agnimitra Paul of the BJP was the challenger in Asansol.

In the Ballygunge constituency, Babul Supriyo, who defected from the BJP, was victorious. In the bypoll, the BJP fielded Keya Ghosh, while the CPI(M) fielded Saira Shah Halim.

Mr Supriyo resigned as the MP of Asansol after transferring to the Trinamool from the BJP, and state minister Subrata Mukherjee, who represented Ballygunge, died last year, necessitating the by-polls, which were held on April 12.

“Wish to see the faces of those jealous BJP ‘Netas’ who never acknowledged my hard work for a place I love-Asansol & mocked me by saying, “Even a Matchstick standing for @BJP4India wud win in Asansol. Love you Asansol for serving them a Slap in a platter,” tweeted Babul Supriyo.

According to the Election Commission website, Shatrughan Sinha received 6,56,358 votes, while his BJP opponent Agnimitra Paul received 3,53,149 votes. Partha Mukherjee of the CPI(M) received 90,412 votes, while Prasenjit Puitandy of the Congress received only 15,035 votes.
