By-election results 2022: TMC leads in Bengal; RJD leads in Bihar

Voting for one Lok Sabha seat and four assembly seats has commenced. The four assembly constituencies that went to votes were Ballygunge in Bengal, Khairagarh in Chhattisgarh, Bochahan in Bihar, and Kolhapur North in Maharashtra. Asansol in West Bengal, is one of the Lok Sabha seats.

To represent Asansol in the Lok Sabha, the TMC has fielded actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha against BJP’s Agnimitra Paul. Meanwhile, the TMC is contesting the Ballygunge assembly seat with Babul Supriyo, who recently defected from the BJP and joined Mamata Banerjee’s party.

In Chhattisgarh, the Congress is ahead by 25,854 votes, with the BJP trailing by 16,968 votes.

Amar Kumar Paswan of the RJD is ahead by more than 11,620 votes over BJP contender Baby Kumari.

For the Bochahan assembly seat in Bihar, RJD’s Amar Kumar Paswan has a large advantage against BJP’s Baby Kumari. Kumari has 10,776 votes, while Paswan has nearly 16,000 votes.

According to early election results from the Election Commission, the Congress has a 4,856 vote lead over the BJP’s Satyajeet (Nana) Kadam in the Kolhapur North Assembly seat. Jayashree Jadhav, the wife of the late sitting MLA Chandrakant Jadhav, is running for the Congress.
