CBI searches Sisodia’s bank locker amid a row over excise policies; video
Manish Sisodia, the deputy chief minister of Delhi, had his bank locker in the Ghaziabad region of Uttar Pradesh searched by CBI agents on Monday, days after the agency’s team had arrived at his residence in Delhi over a dispute over the excise policy matter. The AAP politician and his wife were seen in bank footage on TV programmes.
He tweeted in Hindi on Monday, saying: “Tomorrow, CBI is coming to see our bank locker. The 14-hour search of my home on August 19 turned up nothing. “The locker will also contain nothing. Welcome CBI. I will completely cooperate with the investigation, along with my family, the AAP leader continued.
As investigators checked his locker, ANI’s video showed the AAP politician standing outside the Ghaziabad branch of the Punjab National Bank.
AAP and BJP MLAS launched nocturnal protests at the Delhi Assembly before the CBI decided to further up its investigation. While BJP leaders demanded Sisodia’s resignation, AAP MLAs demanded an investigation into Lt. Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena, who they charged with corruption.
