Congress files complaint against the filmmaker for creating bogus video of Rahul Gandhi

The Congress filed a complaint against the director of the movie Ashok Pandit, saying that Ashoke Pandit has a history of posting such things, and took harsh action against him for disseminating a bogus video of Rahul Gandhi that claimed the Congressman was refusing to pray. The complaint stated that Asoke Pandit “must be held accountable for the same” because he “removed his posts promptly after the same were shown to be a bare-faced lie.”

In recent days, a video that purported to show Rahul Gandhi declining to conduct aarti went viral. Ashoke Pandit stated in a since-deleted tweet, “Janeudhaari Rahul Gandhi is refusing to do aarti. The reasons are apparent.” When fact-checkers discovered that the images used in the altered film were from Rajasthan in 2017, when Rahul Gandhi had actually conducted the aarti, they disproved the claim.

Ashoke Pandit erased the social media post, but Jairam Ramesh, the general secretary of the Congress, said he would still have to answer to the law for his “atrocious deed.” Jairam Ramesh tweeted, “We will not let such people get away easily.”
