Continued Heavy Rainfall Is Forecast For The North East For Next 3-4 Days

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced that widespread, heavy to very heavy rainfall would continue for the next 2-3 days over the Northeast and parts of east India, as the heavy to very heavy rainfall spell continues.

“Widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls is very likely over Arunachal Pradesh on May 19 to 21, and over Assam, Meghalaya, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim on May 19 to 22 due to strong southwesterly winds from the Bay of Bengal to Northeast and adjoining east India at lower tropospheric levels. On May 19 and 21, isolated exceptionally heavy rainfall is highly expected over Meghalaya “According to the IMD advisory. It is expected that rainfall activity would reduce after that. “There would be a decrease in rainfall/thunderstorm activity over Northeast India from May 26 onwards.”

Meanwhile, most days of the week will see isolated to scattered light rainfall with isolated thunderstorms/lightning/gusty winds over Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, and Odisha. Following Monday, light localized rainfall/thunderstorms are also probable over central sections of the country.
