Fire destroys Durga Puja Pandal, Killing Two Children in Uttar Pradesh

A pandal fire that started in Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday has so far claimed the lives of three persons. Bhadohi is located around 280 kilometers from Lucknow, the state capital. According to authorities, the incident happened at a Durga Puja pandal in the Aurai town of the Bhadohi district. When the fire started during the Aarti ceremony to celebrate the seventh day of the Navratri celebrations, or Saptami, it was estimated that 150 people were there.

The tragedy claimed the lives of a 47-year-old woman, two sons (ages 12 and 10) and two boys (ages 12 and 10), according to Bhadohi DM Gaurang Rathi. After the event, roughly 55 persons were admitted to hospitals on Saturday, 22 of them were claimed to be critically injured and suffering from serious burns at the time.


“Additionally two. Whoever was injured by the Durga-Puja-Pandaal-fire disaster, which was reported in the village of Narthua in Bhadoi late on Sunday night, died as a result of their burn wounds, the official told Hindustan Times.

“With this, there have now been a total of three fatalities in the incident, which also resulted in about 64 persons suffering burn injuries.”
