On Saturday, five Indian students were killed in a road accident in Canada after their passenger van collided with a tractor-trailer on an Ontario highway, according to Indian High Commissioner to Canada Ajay Bisaria.
Harpreet Singh, Jaspinder Singh, Karanpal Singh, Mohit Chouhan, and Pawan Kumar were among the pupils killed, according to Quinte West Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
The Indian envoy offered his condolences to the families of the students on Twitter, and said the Indian embassy in Toronto is offering all possible assistance to the victims’ friends.
“A heartbreaking incident occurred in Canada on Saturday, when five Indian students died in a car accident near Toronto. There are two more people in the hospital. Heartfelt sympathies to the victims’ families. The @IndiainToronto team is in contact with victims’ friends for assistance “Mr Bisaria sent out a tweet.
S Jaishankar, the Minister of External Affairs, expressed his condolences for the deaths of Indian students in the tragedy.
