A makeshift gallery at a football stadium in Kerala has reportedly fallen, putting thousands of fans in danger. On March 19, an incident occurred in Malappuram, Kerala’s northwestern district.
The footage shows the temporary gallery collapsing on spectators sitting on the bench watching the football match. People may be seen running around in a panicked state as soon as they become aware of the disaster.
While the audience falls hushed in order to save their lives, the organisers and others are seen racing to the scene following the incident. This tragedy occurred around 9 p.m. on Saturday in Poongodu, a village near Wandoor and Kalikavu, during the All India Sevens Football final match.
All of the injured victims have been transferred to local hospitals, according to the police. The Manjeri Medical College and Hospital received a number of injured patients. Despite efforts to save everyone, five people are still in critical condition. A large number of children were also injured as a result of the accident. When the tragedy occurred, around 8,000 people were said to be present in the improvised gallery. The east stand could only hold roughly 3,000 people, far over its capacity. The organisers will face severe punishment, as stated by Malappuram SP. An investigation of the occurrence in Kerala would be conducted by the department.
