Gamchi Timre R Marak, a teacher from Meghalaya, was given the “National Awards to Teachers” honour on Monday. She described the honour as a hard-earned one for her and her career of accomplishment.
Marak received the award at the Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi together with 44 other honorees from President of India Droupadi Murmu.
Her contributions as the Head Teacher of Educere Higher Secondary School in Samanda, Williamnagar, East Garo Hills District, Meghalaya, have earned her this honour.
Marak said that she is pleased with the accomplishment and that honour is difficult to obtain.
As she shared her experience of changing lives from a far-off location, she also stressed how challenging it is to win the aforementioned prize.
William Nagar used to be a sparsely populated area, as Marak pointed out. It has come a long way to reach its current level of development. Marak thinks that education was a significant factor in this evolution.
Marak further mentioned how Williamnagar was formerly a destitute neighbourhood. There weren’t many educated folks in the neighbourhood.
Marak came to the idea that the area needed education as a result of her work in the social sector.
Marak claimed that because of her work with NGOs, the locals began to respect her. “The area need improvement and education for the populace. She eventually founded a school because the community wanted her to be a teacher, she claimed.
Additionally, the Meghalayan Chief Minister tweeted his congratulations to her: “Smti Gamchi Timre R. Marak, the head teacher of Educere Higher Secondary School at Samanda, East Garo Hills District, has been bestowed with the coveted National Award To Teachers Day.”
