A top Karnataka Congress leader made a contentious remark about the word "Hindu," which has the potential to ignite a full-scale verbal battle between political groups. According to Congress leader Satish Jarkiholi, the name "Hindu" actually originates from the Persian language and has a very "dirty" connotation. On Sunday, Jarkiholi, who has also held the position of forest minister in a Congress-led administration, made the comment while speaking at a gathering in the Belagavi region. He continued by saying that Hindus are not indigenous to India. He remarked in Hindi, "It is being pushed on us forcibly."

Randeep Singh Surjewala, a senior member of the Congress, called it "very unfortunate."
"Hinduism is a way of life and a feature of Western civilization. In order to respect all religions, beliefs, and faiths, Congress founded our nation. This is what makes India unique.
The claim that Satish Jarkiholi made is really regrettable and ought to be disregarded. We categorically reject that, " he tweeted.
