The northeastern part of India was prompted by severe rainfall in the last few days. Meghalaya was one of the states hardest hit by the recent torrential rains, with many students forced to miss their board exams. On Tuesday, Meghalaya Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui said the department is requesting a report on the number of pupils who missed their board exams owing to inclement weather in the state.
Rymbui told reporters that the department is aware of reports that several students missed exams earlier this week due to severe rains that have left numerous highways in the state closed.
Meanwhile, according to official sources, up to 25 pupils may have missed their board examination on Monday owing to severe rain.
Authorities stated 22 of them were taking the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) exam and three of them were taking the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) exam.
According to them, the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE) has yet to decide whether or not to conduct a reexamination for such students.
Meanwhile, due to the incessant rain in the region at least two people were killed in a large landslide triggered by rainfall in the Mawlat area of the Mawkynrew Block of the East Khasi Hills district on Monday.
