India’s First Passenger Drone Built For Indian Navy Is Capable Of Carrying One Person

Varuna is India’s first passenger drone, built for the Indian Navy, and can carry 130 kgs. The drone ‘Varuna’ is the country’s first passenger drone made by a startup company, Sagar Defense Engineering of Pune, Maharashtra.

This ‘Varuna’ drone has been designed and developed by a startup and can carry one person inside. It has a range to cover 25 km with a 130 kg payload and it has an automatic emergency parachute which helps the drone land safely.

Varuna was introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to PM Modi, the current administration has used technology, including drones, to guarantee last-mile service delivery. Varuna was unveiled at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi last month.
