Israel Successfully Tests The World’s First ‘Iron Beam’ Laser Interceptor

Officials hail Iron Beam system after successful interceptions of guided and unguided projectiles; Gantz says all efforts being made for early deployment. Defense Ministry of Israeli revealed that the first series of tests for the development of a laser air defense system was successful. They successfully shot down various missiles and drones in the trials.

According to ”Yaniv Rotem ” head of the ministry’s research and development team, tests were conducted with the technology at different ranges and times. “The laser was a game changer,” he said. The technology is simple to operate, more economically viable than expensive deliveries, and will positively impact the environment.

Naftali Bennett, Prime Minister of Israel recently released a video detailing their new laser defense system, which intercepted a rocket, mortar, and drone in southern Israel’s Negev desert this past March.

The ministry has been testing a laser defense system for years, shooting down drones and other weapons with it. The tests seemed to work against everything except unguided projectiles which were not shown in footage released by the ministry.

This system was first planned for deployment by 2024, but the military has pushed for an earlier deployment. Prime Minister Naftali Bennett announced in February that Israel deployed this system within the year.

The ministry said the system is an effective, accurate, easy-to-operate tool that is significantly cheaper than any other existing means of protection, which can protect Israel against threats.
