Meghalaya Cabinet discusses inter-state boundary issues with Assam CM
The matter of the inter-state boundary disputes negotiations with Assam was discussed at the Meghalaya Cabinet meeting held today. In preparation for their next meeting with Assam’s chief minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Cabinet decided to try to resolve their remaining problems.
Conrad K Sangma, the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, said that over 98 percent of the border dispute had been resolved in six of the twelve ‘areas of difference.’
He anticipated that the two CMs would be able to agree on the remaining 2% of the issue at the next meeting. Both CMs had already met with the Union Home Minister once, and it was later announced that both CMs would meet with Union Home Minister Amit Shah sometime this month or early next month for finalizing the matter.
