Nagaland Tennis Sensation Receives ‘All MAAC Honors’ for second consecutive season

For the second year in a row, Nagaland-based tennis star Lenien Jamir has been named to the coveted ‘Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) 2022’ Women’s Tennis All-Academic Team.

“Congratulations to Lenien Jamir of @MonmouthWTen on receiving All-MAAC honors for the second consecutive season!” the official Monmouth University Athletics account stated on Twitter.

Jamir, a native of Nagaland’s Mokokchung region, became the first tennis player from the northeastern state to obtain a coveted athletic scholarship at Monmouth University in New Jersey in 2021, and to compete in the college tennis circuit in the United States.

The MAAC named a total of 38 student-athletes to the 2022 MAAC Women’s Tennis All-Academic Team on April 22, 2022, according to reports.

Jamir has won more than 20 All India Tennis Association (AITA) domestic singles titles, as well as other championships in other Asian and African countries.
