Rain has been falling steadily in Meghalaya for the past few weeks, wreaking havoc and damage across the state and even resulting few deaths.
On Thursday, however, a Homeguard member was killed when a pine tree branch fell and pierced his residential quarter’s GI-sheet roof. On Thursday, about 3 a.m., the incident occurred in Jowai.
When the event occurred, the Homeguard personnel Premel Bamon, who had been hired by the Jowai Traffic Police, was sleeping inside his Assam-style PWD quarter.
According to reports from ST, the victim, Bamon, who used to live in the house with his family, died on the scene, while his wife and child were unharmed.
