Meghalaya: Huge number of arms & ammunition recovered in Garo hills; hidden by GNLA suspected

In a significant development, Meghalaya police on Saturday discovered a significant amount of concealed weapons and ammunition.
The insurgent organisation Garo National Liberation Army was suspected of concealing the weapons and ammunition (GNLA).

The operation began last night in the Durama range’s Pillonggre region. Among the weapons found were one 12 bore double barrel cannon, ten electrical detonators, 79 anti-aircraft rounds, 175 7.7 mm rounds, and 250 grammes of gelatin.

In a major break through, huge number of arms & ammunitions were recovered by EGH Police, which were suspected to be hidden by GNLA.

Recovered items include:

An enormous cache of weapons and ammunition was found in the Pillongre area early on Saturday, around 1:40 am, according to a police official. The stash is thought to have been hidden by GNLA Commander-in-Chief Sohan D. Shira, who was killed during a police operation.
The weapons and ammo were found in the Pilgonggre area’s bush, which is under Williamnagar Police Station.
Williamnagar is 15–17 miles away from Pillonggre.
