Meghalaya: MDA likely to suffer a blow as the BJP plans to withdraw from coalition ahead of polls
The Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA), which is now in power, is likely to experience a setback before the upcoming election as BJP is preparing to leave the coalition.
There are conversations happening, Chuba Ao, national vice president of the BJP and in-charge of Meghalaya, told journalists on Saturday, “We have talked about (the matter) with national president (JP Nadda) and we are working on it.
He continued, “We’ve had complaints, but we need evidence. ED and CBI will be there as soon as we receive the papers. They will be pursued by the government agencies. In Meghalaya, they operate at our expense; we do not operate our government at their expense.
He claimed that the BJP had a zero-tolerance policy for corruption.
The alliance’s dominant party, the National People’s Party (NPP), recently declared that it would stand alone in the 2023 assembly elections.
