Members of Opposition walked out of the Parliament on the second day of the winter session
On Monday, the first day of the winter session of the legislature began, with the passage of a measure repealing three farm legislation. On the other hand, due to their inappropriate behavior during the monsoon session, 12 members were suspended on the first day.
Meanwhile, 16 opposition parties met with Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu on the second day of the 25-day Winter Session of Parliament to discuss the suspension of 12 opposition MPs for the whole Winter Session of Parliament for violent behavior during the Monsoon session.
Opposition parties marched out of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha after their plea to have opposition MPs’ suspensions lifted was denied, and they have been demonstrating ever since, just as they did yesterday.
The opposition demanded that the Farm Laws Repeal Bill be discussed in order to guarantee farmers some of their other demands, which go beyond the repeal of the three farm laws. However, because the 25-day session opened with 36 legislative bills on the table, the Lok Sabha quickly passed the Farm Laws Repeal Bill shortly after the Winter Session began, bypassing the opposition’s request for a debate.
Farmers from Punjab yesterday urged the Centre to act on their other requests, including a legislative guarantee of a minimum support price for crops, in today’s session, hailing the repeal of the farm rules as a win.
