Nongkrem Dance: An enchanting and religious dance festival of Meghalaya

Meghalaya enthusiastically concluded the Shad Nongkrem, a Dance Festival popularly known as "Nongkrem Dance" on November 7, 2022, and it is also marked as a local holiday.

Young unmarried Khasi females and the men of the tribe both perform dance, which is the festival's main attraction. The female performers typically don brilliant yellow Jainsem gowns with intricately embroidered panels and tassels, along with a silver crown headdress made up of different flowers.

Ka Shad Mastieh is the name of the dance that the males perform. The men dance while holding a sword in their right hand and a ceremonial fan resembling a chaur in their left. They wear swords to represent a man's protection of himself and those he loves most. Dhotis, full-sleeved shirts, embroidered sleeveless coats, and even turbans are among the options for men's clothing.
