Kim Jong Un ordering lockdowns across the country after North Korea substantiated its first-ever Covid cases on Thursday and declared a “serious emergency”.
The government had inflicted a strict coronavirus barrier on its borders since the start of the pandemic in 2020, as North Korea was not admitting to covid cases in their country. However, North Korea refused the offers of vaccinations from the World Health Organization, China, and Russia.
The samples were taken from patients who has mild symptoms of sick with fever in Pyongyang “coincided with Omicron BA.2 variant”, the official Korean Central News Agency reported.
The nuclear-arm country held a crisis politburo meeting on Thursday to discuss the outbreak and announced they would implement the maximum emergency epidemic prevention system by leading officials, including leader Kim Jong Un.
