Pune woman forced to bath in public as part of “ritual” to conceive male child; case registered
A 30-year-old woman in Pune, Maharashtra, has filed a complaint against her husband and in-laws for harassing her and forcing her to bathe under a waterfall in public, reports ANI. It was apparently part of a “ritual” advised by an occultist so that the woman could have a male child, according to the news agency. According to police, the harassment began after the woman married a businessman in 2013.
According to a Pune police officer, her husband has been arrested along with his parents and a “Tantrik” (godman casting spells) for allegedly torturing his wife and making her take a bath under a waterfall in front of onlookers as part of a ceremony to help her get pregnant.
According to a Bharti Vidyapeeth police official, they have been charged with violating sections of the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act, 2013, as well as Indian Penal Code section 498 (husband or relative of husband subjecting woman to cruelty).
“The couple didn’t have any kids. The woman was escorted to a waterfall in Raigad district and made to take a bath in front of the whole on the tantrik’s instruction. The investigation is ongoing “the official stated.
