Two BSF men arrested for allegedly raping an Indian woman while crossing Bangladesh border
Two Border Security Force (BSF) personnel were detained by the West Bengal police on Friday night for allegedly gang-raping a 23-year-old Indian woman in front of her 5-year-old daughter the previous night while her family attempted to cross the India-Bangladesh international border illegally in south Bengal, according to police on Saturday.
On the basis of the woman’s accusation, the police have detained the two BSF personnel. When they were presented in court on Saturday, they were given a seven-day judicial hold.
“The woman complained to the Bagda police station, claiming that she had been gang-raped. She witnessed the crime while accompanied by her five-year-old daughter. An ASI and a BSF constable have been detained by our officers. Local residents were under some tension. Tarun Halder, the police chief of Bongan Police District, stated, “We are keeping a watch.
With the assistance of a tout, the woman, her husband, and their two children attempted to cross the international border in violation of international law. They were travelling to meet a sick relative in Bangladesh and were Basirhat residents from the North 24 Parganas area of West Bengal.
The family fled as the BSF pursued them, and during the confusion, the couple became separated. The husband was able to flee with the two-year-old child, but the two BSF personnel caught up with the lady and her five-year-old daughter. They are said to have raped her in a farm area.
“The BSF has filed a separate report with the Bagda police station after learning of the alleged crime through its own network. According to AK Arya, DIG BSF, “They have been suspended, and a departmental investigation has been launched” (South Bengal Frontier).
