Ukraine Omitted Japan from special thanked video.

Today the government spokesman said that in a video posted on social media that Japan was not included in the highlighting nations to thank the supporter of them in their hard time on war with Russia which was uploaded by Ukraine Foreign Ministry through social media via Twitter on Monday, where all the nations were on the screen appearing except for the Japan. The omission may be a result of Tokyo not providing lethal weapons.

“We assume that the gratitude was showed in the context of (thanking countries that provided) military assistance,” Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno said. Ukraine excluded Japan from the list of countries, thanked in a Twitter video. Japan has decided to send defense equipment including bulletproof vests and clothing that protects against chemical weapons. However, Japan has not provided lethal weapons to Ukraine.

While listing 31 countries, including the United States and Britain Japan was omitted among those nations. A woman in a military outfit with a voiceover said, “Ukraine is thankful for your support in this hard time, ” in the 34-second video post on Twitter. The omission came after the Ukrainian government apologized on Sunday for another Twitter video that showed a picture of the late Japanese Emperor Hirohito next to Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini when referencing the Axis powers’ promotion of Nazism and fascism in World War II.

Although Matsuno also said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and other senior government officials have already thanked Japan
