The Kremlin denounced the decision as part of a greater Western hysteria against Moscow, a day after the US placed new sanctions on Russian banks and President Vladimir Putin’s daughters as the battle in Ukraine approached two months.

All of Putin’s close family members have been cut off from the US financial system, and any assets they have in the US have been frozen.
