Video: India successfully tests Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missiles

The Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile (QRSAM) system was successfully put through six flight tests by India on Thursday off the coast of Odisha. The Indian Army has completed the flight tests as part of evaluation trials, according to the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO).

To assess the capability of the weapon systems under various scenarios, including long-range medium altitude, short-range high, altitude manoeuvring target, low radar signature with receding and crossing target, and salvo launch with two missiles fired in rapid succession, flight tests were conducted against high-speed aerial targets simulating various types of aerial threats.

The launch included senior representatives from the Indian Army and DRDO. These tests were performed with the final deployment configuration, which included every locally developed sub-system, including the missile with an indigenous RF seeker, the mobile launch Electro-Optical Tracking Systemcher, the fully automated command and control system, and the surveillance and multi-function Radars. The QRSAM armament system is distinctive in that it has the capacity to fire after a brief halt while moving and performing search and track operations. The mobility tests that were undertaken earlier have demonstrated this.
