Deepak Chahar is replaced in the ODI team by Washington Sundar

Washington Sundar was named for the final two One-Day Internationals against South Africa on Saturday, replacing the injured Deepak Chahar. The second One-Day International (ODI) will be played here on Sunday, with the Proteas leading the three-match series 1-0. Washington Sundar has been named as Deepak Chahar’s replacement for the remainder of the ODI series against South Africa by the All-India Senior Selection Committee.

“Mr. Chahar suffered back stiffness after the third and final T20I against South Africa in Indore and did not play in India’s first ODI in Lucknow,” the BCCI stated in a statement. “He will now return to the National Cricket Academy (NCA), where he will be supervised by the Medical Team.” Chahar has been picked to the T20 World Cup reserves. The core team is already in Australia for the T20 World Cup, therefore India has selected a second string squad in the ODI series at home.

Sundar, 23, who has experienced injury concerns in his early career, last played an ODI in February of this year. Sundar has represented India in four Tests, four ODIs, and 31 T20s. Shikhar Dhawan (Captain), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer (vice-captain), Rajat Patidar, Rahul Tripathi, Ishan Kishan (wicket-keeper), Sanju Samson (wicket-keeper), Shahbaz Ahmed, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravi Bishnoi, Mukesh Kumar, Avesh.
