12 Goa Congress MLAs are likely to join the BJP: CT Ravi

C.T. Ravi, the general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party and its Goa in-charge, asserted on Monday that 12 Goa Congress legislators are prepared to quit from the party and join the BJP.

“12 Goa Congress MLAs are prepared to join us as soon as feasible after leaving Congress. Numerous Congress officials and lawmakers are in touch with the BJP and are likely to join them soon “CT Ravi stated.

A senior party official had earlier said that, as of Sunday, five of the 11 Congress MLAs in the state — Michael Lobo, Digambar Kamat, Kedar Naik, Rajesh Faldesai, and Delialah Lobo — had cut off communication. After that, Lobo’s position as leader of the opposition in the state Assembly’s 40 members was terminated by the Congress. Dinesh Gundu Rao, the Goa-based Congress in-charge, claimed that Lobo and Kamat “were hatching a plan through hobnobbing with the BJP to engineer a split in the Congress.”

Dinesh Gundu Rao claimed at a press conference on Sunday that “some of our own leaders formed a plan with the BJP to ensure that the Congress party in Goa is crippled and to engineer defections.”

“Two of our own leaders, Leaders of the Opposition Michael Lobo and Digambar Kamat, were in charge of this plot. These two individuals had been cooperating fully with the BJP. Digambar Kamat did it to protect his own reputation because he is the subject of numerous legal proceedings, and Michael Lobo did it for reasons of prestige and authority. The BJP seeks to defeat the opposition “he added.
