The largest telecom company in the country, Reliance Jio, has announced that by December 2023, it will offer ultra-high-speed internet connectivity throughout the entire nation. Chairman Mukesh Ambani made the announcement on Saturday.
Jio entered the telecom market in September 2016 by providing free voice calls and incredibly inexpensive data, compelling the competition to either catch up or go out of business.
Affordably priced 5G services have now been promised by Ambani.
At the India Mobile Congress (IMC) conference in this city, he stated, “Today, I want to repeat Jio’s pledge to provide 5G to every town, every taluka, and every tehsil of our country by December 2023.
At the annual shareholder meeting of his company, Reliance Industries Ltd., Ambani promised that by Diwali, 5G services would be available in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata.
He added that since the majority of Jio’s 5G was built in India, it bears the seal of “Atmanirbhar Bharat,” and that 5G and 5G-enabled digital solutions can make access to high-quality, reasonably priced education and skill development possible for ordinary Indians.
By converting existing hospitals into smart hospitals without significant additional investment, making the best doctors’ services digitally accessible anywhere in India, enhancing the speed and accuracy of diagnostics, and enabling real-time clinical decision making, it can provide high-quality healthcare to rural and remote areas.
Ambani claimed that by utilising the combined power of demographics and digital technologies, India can become the leading digital society in the world, accelerating growth by growing its economy from its current level of USD 3 trillion to USD 40 trillion by 2047 and rapidly raising the per capita income from USD 2,000 to USD 20,000.
“To argue that 5G is like a Digital Kamadhenu, the celestial cow that provides whatever we ask, would not be an exaggeration,” he remarked.
According to him, India will get closer to “Sab Ka Digital Saath and Sab Ka Digital Vikas” with the help of 5G. “India may have gotten off to a late start, but we’ll finish first by putting out 5G services that are better and more reasonably priced than anywhere else in the globe,” the statement reads.
According to Ambani, 5G offers foundational technology that unlocks the full potential of other transformative technologies like artificial intelligence, the internet of things, robotics, blockchain, and the metaverse. It is also much more than just the next generation of connectivity technology.
