A 16-year-old boy drowns while swimming in the pond in Connecticut

A 16-year-old boy drowned while he was gone swimming to escape a scorching heatwave in the area on Saturday, said the official.

Authorities have reported a missing swimmer around 4:30 p.m and dive teams found the body of a teenager and pulled him out of Uncas Pond in Lyme, Connecticut.

The unidentified teen was swimming in the pond along with his friends but went under and never resurfaced according to the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

Dive teams from local agencies and Connecticut State Police as well as DEEP Environmental Conservation Police worked to recover the boy.

He was brought to the shoreline and given CPR before he was transported to Shoreline Clinic in Westbrook where he was pronounced dead, officials said.
