In a recent interview with TheBothSideNews, Aktar Ali, the MDC of Mahendraganj, revealed the development work he conducted for his constituency using the MDC plan. Mr. Ali said that he had provided 1300 tube wells, 60 toilets, 10 Muslim crematoriums, and one lakh for each mosque. He asserts that he has donated over the past 1.5 years through the MDC programme and that none of the previous MDCs have provided as much for their constituencies as he has.
According to him, Conrad Sangma sanctioned five roads, which were urgently needed at the time for the region's transit ties with other areas. Ali claimed that he backs the NPP since it is making every effort to develop Meghalaya's outlying regions.
Ali claimed that he is in favour of the NPP since it is making every effort to develop Meghalaya's outlying regions. According to him, Dikkanchi D Shira of the Trinamool Congress, who is the current Mahendraganj MLA and the wife of the former Chief Minister Dr. Mukul Sangma, has done nothing to improve the quality of the roads and the constituency during the past ten years. Conrad Sangma and his party, according to him, respond to public concerns.
He stated that although the NPP has not yet selected an MLA candidate for the Mahendraganj region, he will support the candidate whom the party chooses to represent the constituency. According to Ali, the youth of the Mahendraganj constituency are unable to obtain employment despite receiving numerous honorary degrees which is an underlying concern in the region.
When asked how he sees the future of his constituency developing, Ali responds that his constituents will demand that the new MLA selected in the upcoming Assembly election of 2023 develop the region's roads, which have been in a terrible state for a long time. He will also push for the creation of jobs in the area, as deserving candidates frequently leave their home regions in search of employment. He claims that Meghalaya should follow the example of Himanta Biswa Sarma, who offered employment to thousands of deserving applicants in the state of Assam.
He claims that the medical facilities are also pitiful in the constituency because there aren't any competent medical professionals, decent X-ray and sonography equipment isn't readily available, and good children's hospitals and maternity facilities aren't either, let alone the most recent medical technology.
The MDC responds that he sponsored the madrassas with his own hard-earned money and that he works as a contractor when asked whether he funded the madrassas through the MDC plan.
As children from economically disadvantaged classes are unable to pursue higher studies in science and technology, while others travel to Assam or other states to study the same due to the lack of quality science institutions, he also vows to persuade the incoming MLA to construct a science college in the vicinity.
