Arun Bali, a veteran performer best remembered for his portrayal of Kunwar Singh in the movie Swabhimaan, passed away on Friday at the age of 79. According to ANI, the actor passed away in Mumbai.
The Friday-released movie Goodbye featured Arun Bali for the final time. Along with Abhishekh Khan and Rashmika Mandanna, the Vikas Bahl-directed movie also features Amitabh Bachchan, Rashmika Mandanna, Neena Gupta, Sunil Grover, Pavail Gulati, Ashish Vidyarthi, Elli AvrRam, Sahil Mehta, Shivin Narang, and Sunil Grover.
Arun was admitted to the hospital after receiving a rare neuromuscular disease diagnosis earlier this year. Nupur Alankar, a CINTAA member, said to ETimes at the time, “When I noticed a serious flaw in Arun Bali Sir’s remarks when we were on call, I immediately called his attention to it. After that, I attempted to reach his son Ankush but was unsuccessful. I then called Ankush’s colleague Rajeev Menon to get his other number and told him to take Arun Sir to the hospital right away.”
Arun Bali performed in a number of movies and TV shows, notably the 1991 historical drama Chanakya, in which he played King Porus. In the movie Hey Ram, he also played Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy, the chief minister of West Bengal (2000). His performance as Harshvardhan Wadhwa in Kumkum is well known. He is well recognised for his parts in films like Panipat, Kedarnath, and 3 Idiots.
