A controversial tweet from 2020 led to the arrest of actor-producer Kamal Rashid Khan, often known as KRK, in Mumbai. After arriving at Mumbai Airport, KRK was detained. The Mumbai Police have confirmed that he will be brought before Borivali Court today.
Although it was not immediately known for which tweet the actor was detained, a FIR was filed against him for making disparaging comments on social media in 2020 against the late actors Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor.
Rahul Kanal, a member of the Yuva Sena core committee, filed the FIR after becoming aware of the actor’s offensive comments.
According to a PTI report citing a police official, Khan announced Rishi Kapoor’s hospitalisation on Twitter on April 30 and urged the actor not to die because wine shops were about to open.
The day before Irfan Khan died on April 29, he also made derogatory remarks about him.
A senior police official was quoted by PTI as stating, “We have launched a FIR against Kamal R Khan for making derogatory remarks about both the deceased actors under section 294 (punishment for obscene acts or words in public) and other provisions of the IPC.”
