The actor and the founder of ‘Friday Film House’, which is a film production company. Vijay Babu has been accused of sexually assaulting Deepa Thomas in a flat in Kochi.
The actress Deepa Thomas complained against Malayalam actor on 21 April. She alleged in the complaint that she has been sexually assaulted by Vijay Babu in a flat in Kochi. And the actor was repeatedly assaulted more than once, for the sake of giving roles in the film. Kerala Police registered a case against Malayalam actor and producer Vijay Babu for an alleged sexual assault. The case has been registered in Ernakulam South Police based on a woman. Although Vijay Babu has been not arrested nor questioned by the police.
The complainant is a native of Kozhikode district. She felt on a trapped on what they called it “casting couch” in Indian firm industry. It is not new in this field but it has been happening for decades by the A-lister stars as well in Bollywood. Which is why they started the movement called “Metoo movement” by Tanushree Dutta when she complaint against the actor Nana Patekar on the movie set where he misbehave with her and things got heat up and make the massive fight.
The MeToo movement began in late 2018 to manifest in areas of the Indian society including the government, the media, and the Bollywood film industry. Other than Vinay Babu who won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Children’s Film (as producer) for ‘Philips and The Monkey Pen’, there were many directors, producers, and actors involved in such activities.
