Another personnel succumbed to his injury in the Srinagar Attack; Tally reaches three
Another injured policeman died to his injuries in the terror attack in Pantha Chowk, on the outskirts of J&K’s Srinagar city, bringing the total number of martyrs to three, according to authorities.
Constable Rameez Ahmad, one of the 12 police officers injured in Monday’s terror incident, died in the hospital late Monday night from his critical injuries, according to authorities.
Earlier in the attack, a sub-inspector and a selection grade constable were killed. The incident injured 11 police officers, who are being treated in two Srinagar hospitals.
According to Vijay Kumar, IGP (Kashmir), 2-3 terrorists were responsible for the attack, which targeted a bus belonging to the 9th battalion of the armed police. The attack was carried out by the ‘Kashmir Tigers,’ a lesser-known terror group. According to intelligence sources, this is a terror cell of the Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) organization.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has demanded an investigation into the incident and conveyed condolences to the victims’ families.
In a tweet, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said, “PM Narendra Modi has sought details on the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir. He has also expressed condolences to the families of those security personnel who have been martyred in the attack”.
Meanwhile, DGP Dilbag Singh has condemned the barbaric attack and stated that those involved will be brought to justice shortly.
