Boxer Narender added to India's success in the Asian Boxing Championships by winning his quarter-final battle, securing the country's twelfth medal.

Narender put up a strong performance in the men's +92kg category, defeating Iman Ramezanpourdelavar of Iran 5-0 to claim India's 12th medal at the championship.

According to the Olympics website, Sumit defeated Thailand's Borworn Kadamduan 3-2 in the men's 75kg division to advance to the semi-finals of the coveted championship.

The other three boxers competing on Monday were unable to move to the last four after losing their quarterfinal battles.

Aslanbek Shymbergenov of Kazakhstan, who won silver in the men's 71kg event at the 2018 Asian Games, defeated Sachin 4-1.

In the men's 80kg division, Uzbekistan's Aslonov Odiljon defeated Lakshya 5-0.

India's squad (according to Olympics.com):

Naveen Kumar, competing in the men's 92kg weight class, was eliminated early following a 5-0 loss to Kazakhstan's Aibek Oralbay.

Two of the seven Indian women boxers who will compete in their semi-finals on Wednesday are Lovlina Borgohain (women's 75 kg), bronze medallist at the Tokyo Olympics, and Parveen (women's 63 kg), bronze medalist at the world championships.

Minakshi (52 kg) and Preeti (57 kg), both first-time competitors, will battle alongside Ankushita Boro (66 kg), Saweety Boora (women's 81 kg), and Alfiya (women's +81 kg). The men's semifinals will be held on Thursday.

At the most recent continental competition, India won 15 medals, including two golds, five silvers, and eight bronzes.
