In response to the increased number of Covid cases, the Assam government has issued a new SOP for Republic Day celebrations in the state. Certain restrictions have been enforced. According to the new SOP, the function will be held with the smallest possible number of individuals in attendance.
The SOP stated that no cultural events should be held on Republic Day.
It goes on to say that 1000 people will be allowed to attend the state-level programme and 500 will be allowed to attend the district-level programme.
Only police, home guards, and paramilitary forces will be permitted to march in the parade.
There will be no pre-celebration functions permitted.
Schoolchildren will not be permitted to march in the parade.
Only those who have been thrice vaccinated will be allowed to march in the Republic Day parade.
