Personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been dispatched to carry out relief work in areas of Guwahati that have been severely flooded.

“The NDRF workers have arrived because the water level has risen to 10-feet in certain spots. Work on the rescue is currently ongoing “Inspector Gajendra Singh of the NDRF was informed. As a result of the flood, the Kamrup metropolitan district administration declared on June 14 that all schools and colleges in the district would be closed on June 15.

Pallav Gopal Jha, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the Kamrup Metropolitan district, issued the orders after the meteorological department predicted similar rainfall levels for the next two days.

According to the district administration’s regulations, all schools and colleges, both public and private, must be closed. In the meantime, five individuals have been slain in total. On June 14, four construction workers were buried alive by a large landslide in Boragaon, Guwahati, and another person died when his home was flooded.
