Cabinet of Arunachal approves departmental investigation into APPSC paper leak

The SIC and CBI's current investigations into the APPSC paper leak matter would not be affected by the departmental inquiry that the Arunachal Pradesh cabinet approved.

On Wednesday, the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission's Assistant Engineer (Civil) recruitment examination's question papers were leaked. This was discussed by the cabinet, which is led by Chief Minister Pema Khandu (APPSC).

According to a statement from the CMO, it has been determined that the state government will ask the high court to name a court specifically for the case.The cabinet decided to draught regulations for the 2014 Whistleblowers Protection Act's rapid implementation in recognition of the whistle-blower who discovered the paper leak.

It was also resolved to restructure and improve the APPSC's grievance cell in order to more quickly and effectively address the concerns of applicants as well as those of all other stakeholders.

No one participating in the swindle would be spared, the chief minister declared during the meeting.

The discrepancies were discovered after one Gyamar Padung, who took the test, complained to the Itanagar police station on August 29 that he thought the exam's question paper had been leaked. The exam on August 26 and 27 saw the participation of more than 400 participants.On October 27, the state administration suggested that the CBI take up the inquiry. The Special Investigation Cell (SIC) of the state police eventually took up the investigation after it had first been handled by the Capital Police.

The cabinet, meanwhile, gave the go-ahead for regional subjects to be covered in APPSC exams.
