Unidentified light flashes in the sky over Kolkata: satellite or Agni V?
Social media users posted photos of the mysterious light that appeared in Kolkata sky on Thursday.

A unusual light that appeared in the Kolkata sky for around five minutes astonished people who were stargazing because it was not immediately clear where it came from. Additionally, experts are unsure if it came from a meteor, satellite, or missile. Social media accounts indicate that the light was visible between 5.50 and 5.55 o'clock. The odd light may also be seen in Bankura, East and West Midnapore, North and South 24 Parganas, Howrah, Hooghly, and a few districts in Odisha in addition to Kolkata.

A moving light that resembled a spotlight was spotted approaching.

On Thursday, the nuclear-capable Agni-5 ballistic missile conducted a night experiment. At 5.30 p.m., the launch was conducted from Odisha's APJ Abdul Kalam Island. According to reports, the missile has a three-stage solid fuel engine and is capable of accurately striking targets up to 5,000 kilometres away. The missile launch occurs as tensions between China and India in the Tawang area of Arunachal Pradesh have risen. It is unknown, though, whether the enigmatic light seen in the country's eastern skies was caused by the missile test.
