Centre is Ready to Talk to Terrorist Groups in Northeastern Region; Rajnath Singh
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Monday that the government is willing to talk to terrorist groups in the Northeastern region about their issues since the administration wants to put a stop to the violence forever.
On Monday, February 14, 2022, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh spoke at a public meeting in Manipur’s Langthabal Mandal, saying that the region’s road, rail, and aviation connectivity has improved under the Narendra Modi administration.
The Defence Minister said that the government is always willing to talk with extremist outfits for a long-term solution to the insurgency problem and to permanently end violence in Manipur and other Northeastern states while speaking at an election meeting in Langthabal Mandal in Imphal West district of Manipur.
“Terrorist groups must come forward and talk to the authorities about their problems. To carry out development projects and welfare schemes for the benefit of the people, violence must be put on hold indefinitely. Under the strong leadership of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, the terror violence in Manipur has been considerably contained,” he added.
According to the senior BJP leader, blockades and violence were common during the last Congress administration, and the party’s governance records were shattered.
“Within 15 years, the BJP aspires to raise Manipur’s developmental status to new heights.” Manipur’s face has changed since Narendra Modi became Prime Minister, and the state is moving ahead to a brighter future. Modi has a fresh vision for the Northeastern region’s overall development. “Projects related to rail, road, and aviation connections are being implemented on a mission basis,” remarked the former BJP National President.
According to the Defense Minister, the Northeastern region would be transformed into a major tourism hub, and Manipur’s development will be enormous as a result of tourism.
He said that the Congress had neglected the Northeastern area for decades and that Manipur’s development is now on par with the rest of the country.
During his visit to Manipur, he visited the local Gurudwara Mandir in Imphal and offered prayers.
Later, the Defence Minister paid a visit to the home of Yumnam Kalleshor Kom, an Indian Army trooper who was killed in the Kargil War in 1999.
“I spoke with members of his family and inquired about their well-being. “I applaud YK Kom’s courage and supreme sacrifice,” he wrote on Twitter.

On February 28 and March 5, elections for the 60-seat Manipur Assembly will be held in two stages. The election would be held on March 10th, and the ballots would be counted.
